Q: What class would be right for my child?
A: You can identify what class would be right for your child via our programs page or talking to the head coach. For more information visit our programs page HERE! |
Q: What does my child need to wear at training?
A:During trainings gymnasts should wear tight fitted clothing, like a leotard, legging, singlets, shorts etc. This keeps them safe from getting caught on equipment and provides less possible distractions during training. No socks or jewellery are to be worn during trainings to prevent possible incidents. Gymnasts need to have there hair tied securely back so it doesn't need to be re-done during training. To see what Gymnastics attire is available visit our merchandise page. Q:What is the difference between recreational and competitive? A: At our club, recreational gymnasts get to cement the fundamentals of gymnastics through fun-filled classes, and can transfer the techniques and skills they’ve picked up to plenty of other sports later in life. Our recreational programs also flow into the beginning of our competitive program with less pressure. Competitive gymnasts require a much higher level of commitment in terms of time, pressure and expectation as they are expected to compete at annual competitions. |
Q:Does my child need to bring anything additional to training?
A: It is advised that all gymnasts bring a water bottle, chalk and a sweat towel to there gymnastics class. The senior WAG squad are also requested to bring a pair of grips and ankle weights, a resistance band and a foam roller. Q: Does my child have to compete? A:It is expected that our gymnasts enrolled into a competitive squad class will compete in at least one competition per year. Special consideration will be made at the discretion of their Head Coach if a gymnast does not want to compete in their first year of participation in a competitive squad. If a gymnast chooses not to compete in at least one competition, they will not receive a level badge. They are still able to learn the skills and advance to the next level to train, but may not be able to compete at higher levels without competing at the lower ones. As they are a very important part of a gymnasts training and progression, we strongly recommend that all competitive gymnasts participate in the competitions as it helps them refine their skills, feel the pressure and excitement of competing and the pride in representing the gym club with their team. |
